It will definitely benefit you if you go to a film school, but it necessarily is not a prerequisite.

There are plenty of successful directors who never went to film schools at all?

Does that mean people who go to film schools don’t succeed?

No, that definitely doesn’t mean that you won’t succeed if you go to a film school.

This is one of the greatest myths of the time. You as a director doesn’t need a lot of money. Often new directors do not have a handful of money in their pockets but, they make blockbuster films.

A director should be able to do every job on set

A director does not need to know how every job on the set is done. It is cooler when a director knows that as it helps you to analyse the amount of work and manage the time accordingly.

But even if you don’t that’s completely fine.

Your film must get a nomination

No doubt getting a nomination is extremely appreciative. You’ll always feel motivated if others also believe in your work. 

But what if you don’t get a nomination?

Although a nomination is appreciative it is not everything! Instead of worrying about the nomination, you must focus on reviews by the audience.
